Community Retention Incentive Initiatives: 2014-2018

Better access... in their language

The McGill Training and Retention of Health Professionals Project contributes to Quebec’s initiatives to ensuring English-speaking Quebecers have access to the full range of health and social services in their own language through measures designed to build and maintain a sufficient complement of health and social services personnel capable of providing services in English. The project is an additional tool to support the implementation and enhancement of regional programs of access to health and social services in English as provided for in the Act respecting health and social services.

The objectives are to ensure English-speaking people receive effective communication in their language from the health and social services professionals serving their needs and to increase the number of English-speaking professionals working in the health and social services system.

Investing Towards the Future of Health and Social Services in Laval

Agape`s retention project aims at creating awareness of the needs of the English Speaking Community of Laval, increase understanding and promoting careers in the health and social services area through collaboration with various key partners. With Agape’s current partnerships, the expansion of these partnerships will be sought, in quantity and quality. In doing this, Agape and the English speakers of Laval will have a better sense of belonging and more of a stake in their broader community.

These partners include le Centre Intégré de Santé et de Services Sociaux de Laval (CISSS), (Jewish Rehabilitation Hospital), Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board, public and private high schools such as Laurier Senior Academy High School and North Star Academy (private) High School as well as Competency Development Centres of Laval.
